“IT’S IN EV’RY ONE OF US
TO BE WISE.
FIND YOUR HEART.
OPEN UP BOTH YOUR EYES.”
A last minute impulse had Packy and I deciding to make one more Muppet-related
pilgrimage. Now, generally I avoid Times Square like the plague, but when it was announced the Muppets would be making a “takeover” appearance on Good Morning America, I decided I’d endure the noisy throng.

“HAVE YOU BEEN HALF ASLEEP
AND HAVE YOU HEARD VOICES?
I’VE HEARD THEM CALLING MY NAME…”
As I said over on my Official Blog, it’s been an inspiring few weeks.
The day after “Cyrano” closed (2/26) I high-tailed it out to Astoria to the Museum of the Moving Image to see something I had been putting off for months- Jim Henson’s Fantastic World, a career-spanning, multimedia exhibit on the life and legacy of Mr. Henson. Along for the ride were my husband Packy and my pal from work, Jen Ponton. Jen’s a gem- a super motivated, sweet, funny, fabulously talented actress. It’s literally impossible to frown when she’s around. Add that to Packy being a big kid himself and you can see how I was surrounded by a metric buttload of HAPPY. I knew I was in for a day of laughter, if nothing else.

I told you it would be different…
BEHOLD! The theme song from Jim Henson’s much beloved “FRAGGLE ROCK”
Yep. I’m a dork. This was mostly an exercise in fun and 80s nostalgia. Did all the voices, added sound effects, played the piano/bass… Yeah. So if you ever wondered what I sound like as a bunch of Fraggles & Gorgs, this is your answer!
Fun summer days at Grandma’s house. circa 1987?
Here’s another clip hot out of my home “studio”- a song which is pretty much my favorite Freddie Mercury composition BAR NONE, “Somebody to Love”
Yes, it’s another Queen song, but unlike my posting of “Bohemian Rhapsody” from a few months ago (which was mostly an exercise in mapping harmony lines), THIS is a full track. I play and sing everything you hear on it- harmony vocals, lead vocal, piano and bass.
ENJOY!
p.s. - I *do* actually perform songs outside of Queen. Swear. ;) I guess I decided to use Queen as a bit of a musical study, though… and BOY did a learn a lot analyzing their recordings!!
With new upgrades in my sound recording equipment, I’ve FINALLY been able to start making quality .mp3 files of my music work.
Here’s a little tease of what I’ve been working on. (Yes, that’s all me. The compression is rough, but that’s what happens with 14 layers of overdubbing!)
Bohemian RhapsodKay… ;-)
Damn You, Autocorrect!!
… and, yes. Even though I personally own a Droid, I’ve had some lovely things happen to me. Ask my husband some time about ‘conanblimp’ instead of ‘could you grab some dinner?’
Gotta love hiking in the autumn. GORGEOUS!!!
